What moves guitars & gear prices
Guitar prices depend on model line, country of manufacture, year and condition, in that order. A Fender American Professional and a Fender Player share a name and differ by a thousand dollars. Modifications usually lower value even when they improve the instrument. Amps price on model, wattage and whether the tubes and speakers are original. Listings under the median are often a different tier of the same model name.
How to read this
The median is the middle asking price of live Buy It Now listings for this exact search, so it reflects what sellers are asking today, not what buyers paid last month. Use the 25th percentile as a realistic quick-sale price and the 75th as a patient-seller price. Anything listed well under the 25th percentile is worth checking for condition, completeness, and seller feedback before you buy.
